Bone marker reference range study: a comparison of the manufacturer’s reference range and laboratory healthy volunteer results to patients with rheumatoid arthritis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Biochemical markers of bone turnover have been used in research for a long time and are now being recognised as helpful tools in the clinical management of bone disease. It is important to establish robust reference values for the interpretation of these markers. In addition to standardising pre-analytical variability it is unclear whether manufacturer’s ranges take into account global differences between subjects and so each laboratory should investigate the transferability of the expected values to its own patient population and if necessary determine its own reference ranges.

Comparison of Common Paraclinical Tests' Results in Semnan Province with the Global Reference Ranges: a Cross Sectional Study with High Sample Size
Abstract Background and Objective: Knowledge about normal range of tests is one of the most important parameters in correct interpretation of the results. Accordingly, we decided to determine normal range of common paraclinical tests in Semnan and compare them with global reference ranges. Material and Methods: The data from Khatam-al-Anbia laboratory from year 2011 to 2013 ev...

Background and Aims: The aim of the present study was to re-evaluate the upper limit of normal range (ULN) for adenosine deaminase (ADA) level in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of healthy subjects in Indian population. Materials and Methods: Posteriori strategy was used for reference population selection. Individuals whose CSF samples had come to the laboratory of Bhatia Hospital, Mumbai (India) ...
متن کاملA Flowcytometry Study of CD55 and CD59 Expression on Erythrocytes in Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients
Background: Inappropriate activation or blockage of the inhibition of complement system could cause tissue damages in autoimmune diseases particularly rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Defect in complement component regulation may cause damages to tissues, on the other hand, or the damaged tissue might affect the unnecessary activation of complement components. Objective: To investigate the expressi...
متن کاملPatients with Active Rheumatoid Arthritis Have Lower Frequency of nTregs in Peripheral Blood
Background: Patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) suffer from wide ranges of autoimmune reactions in joints. The mechanism of which is generally unknown and maybe associated with Treg deregulation. Objective: To compare the frequency of nTregs in peripheral blood of patients with active rheumatoid disease with healthy individuals. Methods: Twenty five newly diagnosed patients with active RA d...
متن کاملAssociation of IL-10 rs1800896 (-1082 G/A) gene polymorphism and susceptibility to rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in Northeast of Iran
Background and objectives: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a complex and systemic inflammatory disease in which the immune response is disturbed. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the promoter regions of regulatory cytokines including interleukin-10 (IL-10) may lead to exacerbated immune response and increased risk of RA. Here, we aimed to assess the association of IL-10 -1082 (G/A) (rs180...
